Oh, No! The Library’s Closed

Libraries as Sites of Unconditional Care (?)

The Bedford Public Library is one of 59 Public Libraries in Brooklyn. It is located on the edge of Bed-Stuy in Franklin Avenue. In an attempt to consider the Bedford Branch in relationship with its physical location in the neighborhood, a resilient community emerged.

On Saturday the 9th, and Wednesday the 13th of November 2019, the Bedfrod Public Library was closed due to a heat outbreak. Based on these observations, the work was an attempt to map the different needs of the members of this community in reaction to the closing of the library.
